Setting up camp

At last, we finally saw the Goblin’s Forest sign after a few long minutes of pushing forward. We were relieved, excited about our home for the night, and ready to set up camp!

We got our stove burner going and boiled water while pitching the tent and getting our beds made. We were warned that lots of standing dead trees were around, so we had to avoid pitching our tent close to them just in case they decided to fall in the night. We quickly changed into our warmer sets of clothes because at high elevation the night can drop into 40 degrees Fahrenheit!

We ate every last bit of our ready beef stroganoff dinner, collected all our trash, and walked our bear canister with its contents 70 steps away. We were exhausted and ready to sleep under the Colorado stars.
