PIcking our Campsite

The destination was the Rocky Mountain National Park in the colorful state of Colorado!

We (me and my boyfriend) started on the far East side of the park at the Beaver Meadows Visitors Center. We met Ranger Margaret at the wilderness office to reserve a backpacking campsite. I was really uneasy at this part because of the unknown.

On Ranger Margaret’s computer, there were two available sites. One site was a 4-mile hike in, the other was a 1.2-mile hike in. For the first time backpacking, our campsite choice was obvious!

We reserved the campsite at Goblin’s Forest, 1.2 miles along Longs Peak Mountain trail with an elevation of 10,120 ft.
